Meet Artificial Intelligence Reviewer: Film Threat’s Computer Generated Contributor

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Reader Michael Flores reminded us to ask our computer-generated critic about “The teddy bear from A.I.”

Once prompted about the 2001 Steven Spielberg movie, the A.I. critic got all philosophical:

“In the movie, Teddy is the central character, the one who makes all the decisions. He is not aware of the people around him, and he’s lonely. He wants to know what’s going on, who’s behind it, and who he is.”

CHAPPIE

Film Threat reader Justin Banks added Chappie to our list, the strange and violent story of a robot-turned-gangster. Our A.I. critic felt Chappie’s pain:

“What’s great about the movie is that it shows how a robot can be a victim of society’s expectations and desires. It’s an intelligent but flawed robot that’s always trying to fulfill his own potential.”

 MOON

Reader Greg Adams also suggested we ask Artificial Intelligence Reviewer about Moon. In this film, astronaut Sam Rockwell gets stranded on a moon base with only A.I. for company.

Our contributor focused on its completely computer-generated opinions about the film’s theme:

“The movie’s message is quite clear: the people on earth are not really that great and must be replaced with a less destructive technology. This is part of the reason why many Earth scientists are very opposed to this plan.”

After computer generating all these movie reviews, Artificial Intelligence Reviewer added a warning for humans who start depending on A.I. generated film criticism:

“If they had a computer write reviews for them, they would be appalled because the reviews were filled with ‘gosh darned humans, you’ll love this movie!’ And that’s the thing about reviews: you can be sure your favorite movie is going to score above average based on all those ‘gosh darned humans’ comments.”

How should we use Artificial Intelligence Reviewer next? Drop us a line in the comments and we’ll use them in an upcoming article!
