By Sabienna Bowman | November 30, 2018

As a horror movie fan, most of us are used to spine-tingling, bone-chilling, jump-scare movie hijinks. But even for the boldest of us, there are just a few horror movies that are better watched with company, if you know what I’m saying.

So now that it’s officially sweater-weather, grab the blankets and invite all of your friends over to watch these super creepy horror movies! Trust me, you definitely don’t want to do this alone.

1. 1408

John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson star in 1408, a story about a skeptical author who spends a night in a haunted hotel room with the intent of uncovering it as a complete fraud. Over the course of the evening, he learns just how wrong he is.

2. The Conjuring

When two paranormal investigators are called to a secluded farmhouse, even they are not prepared for the terror that they will uncover. Starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, The Conjuring is one of the scariest horror films in recent years.

3. Insidious

A young couple (Rose Byrne & Patrick Wilson) finds their child under the thrall of an evil spirit. While it seems like this could be something you might be able to brave alone, there is just something about the red-faced demon in this movie that will send chills straight down your spine.

4. The Woman in Black

Starring Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe, The Woman in Black is a period piece about a young widower sent to a remote village. Soon he discovers that the townspeople are hiding a terrible secret and that the house of his client is haunted.

5. Audition

Audition may be one of the most disturbing horror movies you will ever see. Trust me on this one.

6. Annabelle

While this film may have been a bit of a critical flop, for me there is nothing scarier than an antique doll, let alone one that is possessed by a tormented spirit. Hold your loved ones tight while watching this one!

7. The Taking of Deborah Logan

A found-footage style horror film, The Taking of Deborah Logan ranks pretty highly on my list of disturbing and terrifying movies. When a film crew attempts to document the daily lives of a woman suffering from Alzheimer’s and her caretaker daughter, they are not prepared for the reality of what they are about to capture on film.

8. The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Starring Laura Linney, Tom Wilkinson and Jennifer Carpenter, The Exorcism of Emily Rose is one of the better possession movies to come along since the original Exorcist. Definitely not one to watch by yourself.
