2020 was a bad year for moviegoers and film fans. Hopefully, 2021 will be all the more spectacular: In this article, we will give you an overview of the upcoming highlights. In 2020 numerous productions were postponed to 2021, and one or the other title was even completely outsourced to a streaming service. That is why we present you the movies in the following list that we can (hopefully) look forward to in 2021! Until these movies come out, you can kill time by playing exciting games at an online casino. Here is what you need to know: The film is based on a non-fiction book about reincarnation: Evan Michaels (Mark Wahlberg) is schizophrenic and suffers from hallucinations. One day he finds out that his appearances are real memories that he can even change.

Free Guy

Theatrical release: May 20, 2021

Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Taika Waititi, Directed by Shawn Levy, Genre: Action Comedy

What you need to know: Director Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) liked the idea for the action-comedy Free Guy so much that he simply dropped out of Sony’s planned film adaptation of Uncharted. Although the film is not based on a specific video game, it does promise a wild mix of GTA Online, Just Cause 4, Saints Row 4, and Fortnite. In the fictional open-world multiplayer game Free City, Ryan Reynolds plays a simple bank clerk named Guy. He is now used to being the victim of robbery every day. One day, however, Guy is amazed to discover that he is just one of many minor NPCs in a video game. Because the game is to be switched off soon, he tries to contact the developer (Taika Waititi) from within the game to prevent the plan.


Theatrical release: May 27, 2021

Cast: Emma Stone, Paul Walter Hauser, Emma Thompson, Mark Strong, Directed by Craig Gillespie, Genre: tragic comedy

Here is what you need to know: Disney is donating its cartoon classic 101 Dalmatians a live-action prequel, in which everything revolves around the big villain: Cruella de Vil – played by Emma Stone (La La Land, Zombieland). And yes, strictly speaking, there is already a live version of 101 Dalmatians: In it, as well as in its direct sequel, Glenn Close slipped into the fur of the nasty Disney villain. For prehistory, however, another actress is allowed to play.

A Quiet Place 2

Cast: Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Director: John Krasinski, Genre: horror

What you need to know: The horror sequel to the surprise hit from 2018 revolves around Evelyn Abbot (Emily Blunt) and her two children Reagan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus (Noah Jupe). Not much is revealed about the plot yet. But this time there is definitely more to see from the outside world. After the earth was haunted by mysterious aliens who were lured by sounds, much of humanity fell victim to the cruel intruders. In the first film, a family was desperate for protection from the monsters. Now they have to adapt to their new situation. How will the family continue now that they know the monsters’ weakness? Will they be able to protect themselves while having to take care of a baby? 


Theatrical release: June 25, 2021

Cast: Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Directed by Justin Lin, Genre: Action

The ninth part of the action film series with Vin Diesel heralds the early end of the series with the tenth part. We do not know much about the plot at the moment. What is certain, however, is that Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) as well as Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Letty (Michelle Rodríguez), Tej (Ludacris), Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel), and Mia (Jordana Brewster) from the previous films will participate again. Charlize Theron as the tough computer terrorist Cipher plays back as well, as does Helen Mirren as the mother of Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. But this time Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as Hobbs and Shaw, who were last seen in their own successful offshoot film of the series.

Marvel’s Black Widow

Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, David Harbor, Directed by Cate Shortland, Genre: comic book adaptation

Former Russian spy Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow looks back on her beginnings. The plot takes place between the Marvel films Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and starts a little earlier. Because before she became a Shield agent, Romanoff took part as a KGB agent in the top-secret Black Widow program. In addition to her, a number of other agents were trained as Black Widow under the direction of Alexei Shostakov alias the Red Guardian (David Harbor).

Together they face a new adversary: ​​Tony Masters, aka the Taskmaster, known from the Marvel Comics. Other roles include William Hurt as General Thaddeus Ross and possibly even Robert Downey Jr. as Tony “Iron Man” Stark. Parallel release on Disney Plus: In the meantime, Disney has decided to offer Black Widow on the Disney + streaming platform parallel to the cinema release. For this, however, a surcharge of 22 euros is due for the regular subscription – as was the case with Mulan and Raya and the last dragon.
