Until a week and a half ago, I didn’t realize I could find my TV childhood on the Internet. So there I went, on youtube.com and retrojunk.com, watching old TV theme songs from the great days of Nickelodeon in the late ’80s and early ’90s, finding the theme song from “Family Matters” and on You Tube, a few full episodes from “Perfect Strangers”, which also aired again last year on Nick at Nite, which was also when I realized that the only heyday this show had was when brothers Chip & Doug Keyes produced it, understanding that the only way to make Balki’s discovery of America funny was to use physical comedy. Subsequent producers trashed the concept entirely.
Here’s something else the popularity of Perfect Strangers produced in the ’80s. During its run, Mark Linn-Baker, who played Larry Appleton, made a few Peter Pan peanut butter commercials. Here’s one.

You go to hell, Mark. You got to hell and you die.
He can’t go ten minutes without that creamy, delicious Peter Pan!?! Are we still talking about peanut butter?
