PALM SPRINGS INTERNATIONAL SHORTFEST 2025 REVIEW! What would you do if a goat were delivered to your doorstep? That is the question posed in screenwriter Sven-Sander Paas and director Teresa Juksaar’s hilarious Baa-Baa!. This Estonian short is about a family who is new to the city, and now must navigate it with a goat.

“…it must go to a shelter because goats don’t belong in the city.”

The father of the family, Toomas (Kaspar Velberg, tells his wife Linda (Ester Kuntu) that it is a charity goat. They immediately get a knock at the door from an elderly neighbor who complains about it. Linda tells Toomas that they should sleep on it, and the next funny scene is of the family being awakened by the baa sound. The daughter, Juta, names the goat “Gloooria” with three o’s. Toomas says it must go to a shelter because goats don’t belong in the city. What ensues next is a comical series of events of the awkwardness of having a goat in the city.

Baa-Baa! is hilarious, with Kaspar Velberg playing the straight man perfectly to garner the laughs. There’s a little twist at the end that adds even more humor to it all, but I won’t spoil it. There’s enough comedy here to make a funny feature-length film.
