The film industry is one of the biggest in the world. After all, who doesn’t love movies? Film fans are often regularly blessed with the frequent release of great titles. These amazing motion pictures are often a combination of great acting as well as directing. Being an actor is far from an easy job. This is why people can appreciate on-screen performances when they are done at a high standard.

What is even more impressive from actors is when they give an amazing performance in a new genre. Unfortunately, it can often take a few minutes for people to adjust to their favorite comedy actor playing a serious role. Not to mention it, for the most part, doesn’t work out well. However, there are some rare instances of great performances in alternative genres. Here are some examples of such occasions.

Adam Sandler

Adam Sandler has been one of the funniest actors in Hollywood over the last 20 years. His goofy persona has led to some of the best comedy films of all time. It is quite hard to take Sandler as a serious character, especially because his interviews are humorous. However, he really impressed audiences with his performance in Uncut Gems. He plays the role of a sports gambler in this intense drama film. It shows the highs and lows of gambling as well as the intensity of sports betting. If you would like to enjoy some less intense gambling, you might want to check out some online pokies. The film is definitely able to get you excited enough to want to partake in some gambling.

Bill Hader

Bill Hader is another amazing comedy actor. He has starred in iconic films such as Superbad and Train Wreck. However, he made a surprise genre change when he starred in It: Chapter 2. He played the adult version of Richie Tozier. Although he was the comic relief in the film, his horror acting was really on show. His performance was nothing short of amazing and definitely warranted his place on the screen.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is a well-rounded actor without a doubt. He has played a huge amount of characters. However, most of them have been in a comedic tone. Reynolds did prove that he was capable of other roles, however. He was the star of The Amityville Horror. Playing a possessed, evil father isn’t exactly an easy role to fill, especially for a comedy actor. However, he impressed massively with his performance.

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. He is truly one of the most unique individuals you will ever encounter as a movie fan. Again, this is a comedy actor who is known for making extremely funny movies. However, he stepped into the drama/dystopia genre with his role in the Truman Show.  He added his own comedic elements into the film, which was a huge contributing factor to its success. It is considered one of his best pieces of work.
