Director Craig Singer might not be a household name, but for fans of horror, his output is known. His Dark Ride is one of the best titles to come from the “8 Films To Die For” that sprang out of the After Dark Horror Fest, while Perkins’ 14 is a breath of fresh air in the crowded zombie subgenre. As such, while the filmmaker only does a movie every few years, horror hounds are likely to pay attention once it hits.
Singer’s latest offering, from a script by Robert Dean Klein, is the time looping romance-drama-thriller 6:45. Jules (the incomparable Augie Duke) and Bobby (Michael Reed) have been going through a rough patch in their relationship lately. In order to try and salvage a future together, the couple goes on vacation to the sleepy beach town of Bog Grove. The city appears to be completely deserted aside from the barkeep Larry (Thomas G. Waites), hotel proprietor Gene (Armen Garo), maid Shelly (Sabina Friedman-Seitz), and a creepy guy in a hoodie (Joshua Matthew Smith).

Still, since Bobby has fond memories of this place from when he was a child, the two make the best of it. After exploring the town a bit and walking along the beach, Jules and Bobby stop at a bar for lunch. Here is where they encounter the creepy person, whose staring makes Jules uncomfortable. So, the couple hurries out of there, only to be followed by the man, who slits Jules’ throat and breaks Bobby’s neck. Then Bobby wakes up at 6:45 AM the same day, remembering exactly what happened. Now, he’s desperately seeking a way to avoid their deaths while choosing to leave Jules in the dark, as not to freak her out. Why are they being targeted? How did they get stuck in the time loop? Are their deaths and the repeating day interconnected?
