The Independent Feature Project announced that Todd Field’s IN THE BEDROOM, scheduled for release from Miramax Films, will kick off the opening night celebration of the 23rd Annual IFP Market on Sunday, September 30, 2001. The opening night screening and post screening party are sponsored by long-time IFP supporter DuArt Film And Video.
Set on the coast of Maine, IN THE BEDROOM tells the story of a couple whose only child is involved in a love affair that ends tragically, and the characters’ evolving response to the loss. In his feature film debut, director Todd Field, best known for roles in Victor Nunez’s Ruby In Paradise and Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, has teamed with writer Rob Festinger in adapting a story by Andre Dubus. IN THE BEDROOM stars Tom Wilkinson (Ride with the Devil, Shakespeare in Love) and Sissy Spacek (The Straight Story, Affliction), who earlier this year were awarded the Special Jury Prize in the Dramatic Category at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival for their roles in the film. Other key talent in the film includes Marisa Tomei (Happy Accidents, What Women Want) and Nick Stahl (Bully, The Thin Red Line). The film was executive produced by long-time indie film veterans Ted Hope (Good Machine) and John Penotti (GreeneStreet Films).
