Sundance Institute has announced the creation of a central area of Festival activity in downtown Salt Lake City during the upcoming Sundance Film Festival. The “Festival District” will be anchored by two downtown theatres, the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center and the Broadway Centre Cinemas, both on 300 South. The 2006 Sundance Film Festival will be held January 19-29 with screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah and is the premiere showcase for independent film from the U.S. and abroad attracting audiences exceeding 40,000 annually.
Additionally, the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center will host the Festival’s Salt Lake City Gala on Friday, January 29 and will screen two films per evening, Monday through Friday, at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., and a full schedule of screenings on Saturday and Sunday at the Center. The Festival will present a similar Festival screening schedule at the Broadway Center Cinemas. The Festival District will be concentrated along 300 South and will stretch between the Rose Wagner Theatre and the Broadway Centre Cinemas.
