The Found Footage Festival is back by popular demand, returning to New York’s Cinema Classics on Friday, August 20th at 8 p.m. with a new assortment of odd and hilarious clips from found videotapes. This one-of-a-kind event compiles almost ninety minutes of footage from videos that were found at garage sales and thrift stores and in warehouses and dumpsters throughout the country. This installment of the Found Footage Festival will include clips from corporate training videos, home movies, exercise videos and cable access programs. Curator Nick Prueher will host the screening and provide commentary on how and where each of these all-but-forgotten videos was found.
Highlights of this summer’s festival include the crowd favorites “It Only Takes A Second,” an insurance video with graphic reenactments of on-the-job accidents, “Grill Skill,” a Wendy’s training video featuring a rapping crew trainer, and “Jack Rebney,” a collection of outtakes from an industrial film about RVs. New segments include a religious video by evangelical comedian/impressionist Dennis Swanberg, a travel video hosted by a young and frisky Arnold Schwarzenegger, an obsolete hints and tips video for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and exercise videos from Zsa Zsa Gabor, Alyssa Milano and Traci Lords.
