The Seventh Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF 2000) kicks into gear in San Diego, Calif. March 7-12. Of the 56 featured programs, 15 are feature and short films from Mexico. Highlighting the festival will be Arturo Ripstein’s adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s novel “El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba,” on March 11. The film took home the Latin American Jury Prize at Sundance 2000, screening March 11.
Other acclaimed Mexican films included in this year’s festival include “El Cometa,” “Un Embrujo,” “Divine,” “Segundo Siglo,” “Un Dulce Olor a Muerte,” and “Bajo California…El Limite Del Tiempo.” Directors Ripstein, Jorge Bolado (“Segundo Siglo”) and Carlos Bolado (“Bajo California…El Limite Del Tiempo”) will speak after the screenings of their films.
