THE ROOSTER

By Merle Bertrand | February 19, 2000

“Sometimes,” according to the press blurb in the program, “the rooster crows, sometimes he just walks around looking for worms.” ‘Kayyyy. I don’t know what the hell that means any more than I understand Scott Gardner’s “The Rooster.” All I got out of this silliness was that it had a good ol’ boy strutting around in a world of over-saturated colors and blown out skies. I mean it. That’s literally all I remember. I’m sure there’s some sort of deep message hidden in here somewhere that I missed, but I don’t have the patience to root it out. I’d rather just look for worms.
