Paul Bell (John Waters) is a middle-aged office employee who appears to be all alone working late at night in a big corporation, except he doesn’t work there any longer and a discourteous Young Executive (Simon Maiden) is taking over his job. After the Young Executive rudely tells Paul that he has no right to be there, showing no understanding or respect, Paul knocks him out with his placard. Only then does the Young Executive find some empathy, being thrown into the shoes of Paul against his will and experiencing the daily horrors of the man he had no understanding for.
The film was well shot and created a peculiar supernatural setting in order to deliver a basic moral principle which left it open to interpretation which is always a good movie attribute. Only here I felt the movie was too involved in the puzzlement where it should have concentrated more on the emotions of the characters.
