THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE EGGLY

By Phil Hall | May 6, 2011

You’ve heard of Spaghetti Westerns, right? Well, Nick Zak has created a new genre: Egg Westerns.

Zak’s amusing Leone parody “The Good, the Bad, and the Eggly” recasts the violent Wild West with an all-egg cast. In this effort, a quintet of tough hombres (complete with scars, eye patches and sneers) takes on a mysterious loner with a loopy grin. While the all-egg cast is conspicuously lacking in gun belts (let alone the arms and hands needed to fire their weapons), a shoot out takes place that results in cracked shells and spilled yolk (hey, eggs don’t have blood).

Zak, a student filmmaker, employs imaginative Leone-style cinematography – including intense close-ups and dramatic scene blocking – to achieve his wonderfully scrambled vision. The resulting work is (what else?) egg-cellent!
