THE AMERICAN CINEMATHEQUE FEEDS YOUR LOVE FOR MUSICALS

The American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre presents
CAN’T STOP THE MUSICALS VOL. 2: MORE MUSICALS FROM THE 1970’s and 1980’s. (July 28 – August 3, 2004). This five day festival features 8 musicals from the 70’s and 80’s, plus a program of musical shorts on the opening night, Wednesday, July 28 at 7:30 PM. This series is highlighted by a screening of a restored 35mm print of the not-on-video, 1973 version of “Lost Horizon” with an in person appearance by actor Michael York; a screening of “The Pirate Movie” starring Kristy McNichol and Christopher Atkins presented in person by director Ken Annakin and, cast and crew from the short films, including actor P. David Ebersole and director Michael Nankin from the 1978 Los Angeles made short “Junior High” starring Paula Abdul, and filmmakers Evan Greenberg (“A Boy and A Girl”), David Fickas (“Delivrance: The Musical”), Victor Bellomo and David Pace (“The Spirit of Gravity”).
Other screenings include “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Lisztomania”, “Pennies from Heaven”, “The Apple”, “Can’t Stop the Music” and “The Pirstes of Penzance”.
