SUMMER FILM SERIES AT THE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE

By Film Threat Staff | June 24, 2003

In conjunction with the world-famous Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas, the SXSW Film Festival will host a special summer film series over the next few months.
The series, designed as an opportunity to share past SXSW festival favorites with the Austin film community, will begin with an encore presentation of SXSW 2003 selection Girl Wrestler by Diane Zander. The film – a documentary following a 13 year-old girl who wrestles boys competitively in Texas – will screen at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema June 22-26.
The week of July 11 will feature Bob Odenkirk’s directorial debut
Melvin Goes To Dinner. “Melvin” won the Audience Award for Best Narrative First Film at SXSW 2003. Other titles in the summer film series include the self-distributed SXSW 2003 film Cinemania as well as SXSW 2002 selections Manito and “OT: Our Town,” both presented in Austin with distribution company Film Movement.
