The East Coast Premiere of Todd Komarnicki’s “Resistance,” a beautiful and touching World War II drama starring Bill Paxton and Julia Ormond, will open the 2003 Stony Brook Film Festival at Stony Brook University’s Staller Center for the Arts, on Wednesday evening, July 16.
“Resistance” is one of 29 films making either their World, U.S., East Coast, Regional, or New York premiere at the festival, which runs through Saturday, July 26 on Stony Brook’s Long Island campus. In all, more than 37 films will be screened during the 11-day festival, including over two dozen Independent films in competition.
The World Premieres are:
“Dog Gone Love” – a romantic comedy written and produced by Scott J. Sloan and Rob Lundsgaard, directed by Rob Lundsgaard and starring Alexander Chaplin and Richard Kind.
“Shelter Island” – a mystery/ thriller, directed by Geoff Schaff, written and produced by Long Islander Paul Corvino and starring Ally Sheedy, Patsy Kensit, Stephen Baldwin, Mimi Langeland and Chris Penn.
“Undermind” – a psychological dramatic thriller starring Sam Trammell, Erik Jensen (“Black Knight”), Celia Weston (“In the Bedroom”), and Susan May Pratt (“Ten Things I Hate About You”). The film was written and directed by Nevil Dwek and produced by Fred Bernstein and Marc Tarlov.
