SAN FRANCISCO JEWISH FILM FEST

By Film Threat Staff | July 21, 2000

For its Twentieth Anniversary the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival is going all out on many fronts. On the New Media front, at [ www.sfjff.org ] , the Festival is launching an online program with streaming film clips (courtesy of AlwaysI the definitive online library of independent Jewish films) and an online bulletin board.
“For the 20th anniversary of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival we’ve been making tracks into cyberspace,” said Peter Jacobson, Web Producer of the SFJFF. “We’re thrilled to offer the films and videos of the Festival’s last 20 years as a service to film aficionados, filmmakers, researchers, academics, and Jewish culture mavens worldwide. We designed our archive to be easily accessible to the greatest diversity of people in as many ways as possible – not just for Jewish topics but for a wide variety of topics representing 50 countries and as many different subject areas (all of them searchable). We’ve got African films, Palestinian films, Mexican films, films about the apostle Paul, films starring Sophia Loren, and films about Mah-Jongg, as well as your garden variety Jewish Renewal Lesbian or German Expressionist classics. Like our Festival, the Online Guide isn’t what one might assume.”
