Director Brett Ratner (“Whatever Happened to Mason Reese,” “Money Talks”) was relatively new to the Hollywood scene when his action-comedy Rush Hour took America by storm. Grossing more than $300 million worldwide, the buddy cop action-comedy helped place comedian Chris Tucker on Hollywood’s A-List of celebrities and introduced superstar Jackie Chan to a whole new generation of movie-goers. Now, Ratner is re-teaming the talker of trash with the fastest hands in the West for Rush Hour 2, one of this summer’s most highly anticipated films. Although I have only seen 30-minutes of the movie, I can tell that America is in for a treat — Rush Hour 2 definitely looks like a better, funnier and more action-packed Rush Hour.
When I caught up with Ratner back in June, he managed to take some time away from editing the room to talk about Rush Hour 2 and his expectations for the film. He was also eager to talk about his own career and what Rush Hour did for it, as well as put to rest any rumors about future projects he might or might not have in the works. For even though Ratner may still be new to the Hollywood scene, the success of Rush Hour has already caused this director to be linked to one of the most popular action franchises in the world — “007”…
