Outfest 2003 Grand Jury Award Winner for OUTstanding International Feature, “Porn Theater” will screen tonight, September 24, at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Los Angeles.
Actor Jacques Nolot (UNDER THE SAND) directs and stars in his second feature film, set in a decaying Parisian porn theatre. Within these dark confines, male patrons (soldiers, transvestites, married men) engage in explicit, anonymous sex acts. In the ticket booth of the theatre, a wise Italian woman serves as benevolent gatekeeper, observing but never judging the proceedings occurring under her watchful eyes. One day, one of her regulars (Nolot) engages her in a conversation that leads to an unusual friendship, as these two worldly souls share their common experiences. By turns detached and titillating, PORN THEATRE reflects a world on the fringe of defined sexuality where the lines between gay and straight are blurred.
Screening starts at 7:30pm. “Porn Theater” opens theatrically in Los Angeles at Landmark’s Nuart Theatre on October 17.
