NewFest 2004: The 16th New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Film Festival, will open the annual festival with Screen Gems’ D.E.B.S. and conclude with Sony Pictures Classics’ “Touch of Pink”. The two highly -anticipated Gotham premieres will unfold at the NewFest’s new mid-town venue, Loews Cineplex Entertainment 34th Street. The modern facility will become home for NewFest 2004 and the site for the best new queer cinema for the duration of the annual film festival, which kicks off on June 3 and concludes on June 13 in New York City.
Centerpiece films for NewFest 2004 include the world premiere of “Revolution” starring Margaret Cho, and New York based writer/director Rodney Evan’s award-winning Harlem Renaissance drama “Brother To Brother”. Festival Focus, which is NewFest’s sidebar spotlight on emerging thematic trends in LGBT film/video, will highlight films focusing on Marriage, Israel, Region and Sex & Violence this year (see attached for Focus films). In total, NewFest 2004 will present 200 feature-length and short films and videos from 25 countries over the course of the 11-day celebration.
