NEW VENUES FOR ACADEMY SHORTS SCREENINGS IN LOS ANGELES

For an exclusive Los Angeles engagement, the 2004 Academy Award nominated live action and animated shorts will screen at the Sunset 5 and Playhouse 7/Pasadena beginning on Friday, April 9. These are new locations, updated from the originally reported Laemmle Fairfax.
The Academy Nominated Animations featured in the Apollo showcase are:
WINNER! “Harvie Krumpet” (dir. Adam Elliot, Australia, 22 min) Harvie Krumpet is an ordinary man whose lifelong string of bad luck is offset by occasional episodes of joy. ^ “Nibbles” (dir. Chris Hinton, Canada, 4:30 min.) – A father takes his son’s fishing in the forests of Canada with a few stops along the way.
The Academy Award nominated live action short films featured in the Apollo showcase:
“Torsion” (dir. Stefan Arsenijevic, Slovenia, 14:30 min.) – The members of a choir in Sarajevo are awaiting safe passage through a tunnel when a farmer begs them to help his injured cow. ^ “Squash” (dir. Lionel Bailliu, France, 27 min.) – Alexandre’s boss belittles him as they play squash, and then challenges him to either win the game or lose his job. ^ “The Red Jacket” (dir. Florian Baxmeyer, Germany, 18 min.) – A jacket thrown in the trash by a grieving German father makes its way into the hands of a boy in war-torn Sarajevo.
Special Bonus – 2003 Student Academy Award winner for best animated short
“Perpetual Motion” (dir. Kimberly Miner, USA, 1.5 min.)
Combining Cats and Jelly Toast; yields surprising results.
