METHODFEST ACTS UP A STORM IN PASADENA

By Film Threat Staff | March 31, 2000

What’s the motivation? In the case of the 2nd Annual Method Fest Independent Film Festival, it’s to put the focus on the actor. Set to take place on June 16-23 at the Laemmles Playhouse 7 in Pasadena, CA, the unique festival, named after the popular “method” school of acting, operates on the principle that acting is the core ingredient to independent film. “We think our festival has gained a special niche on the independent filmmaking festival scene,” said festival director Don Franken. This year’s Method Fest features American and foreign feature films and shorts, seminars with renowned acting instructors Lorrie Hall (Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute) and Joanne Baron (“American Pie,” “Allie and Me”) and a Family Film Day and workshop. The “John Garfield Award for Best Actor” and the “Geraldine Page Award for Best Actress” head up the awards, which include other awards given for directing and screenwriting. The late entry deadline for this year’s festival is April 10. Contact The Method Fest at (310) 535-9230 or at wrldclssprts@earthlink.net for info. ^ http://www.methodfest.com
