For the upcoming South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival in March, sidebar of programming has been created entitled “Lone Star States.” The purpose of the sidebar is to properly represent the current landscape of independent filmmaking in the state of Texas.
“Lone Star States” is scheduled to include six to eight feature-length films of both narrative and documentary categories. “At South by Southwest, we’ve always tried to embrace the talented population of Texas filmmakers,” says Festival Producer Matt Dentler. “This is just the latest initiative, where we hope to offer the international film community a chance to witness new visions emerging from the state.”
“Lone Star States” films will be eligible for an audience award during the festival. To be considered for the sidebar, films must be over 40 minutes in length, filmed in Texas, set in Texas and completed in 2003 or early 2004.
The 2004 SXSW Film Conference and Festival takes place March 12-20.
