The Kudzu Film Festival, which ran recently from [ October 17th ] through [ October 25th, 2000 ] , has announced the winners of their annual event. The official ceremony took place in the historic Morton Theatre in downtown Athens, where both Festival judges and the audience chose the best of the fest. The Kudzu winners are, as follows:
[ Athens Honorable Mentions ] ^ “Rendezvous in Samarkand” by Tim Bridwell ^ “A Feeling Called Glory” by Coreen Mayrs.
[ Red-Eye Award ] ^ Jeremy Solterbeck’s hand-drawn “Moving Illustrations of Machines”.
[ Turner South Award ] ^ Barry Steadman’s horror short “Fifteen Minutes”
[ Best of Fest ] ^ Greg Durbin’s “Boundaries” for Narrative Short. ^ Doug Wolens’ “Butterfly” for Documentary. ^ Don Hertzfeldt’s “Rejected” for Animation.
[ Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking ] ^ “Jigsaw Venus” by Dean Kapsalis.
