“Impersonal Impression” tells the age old story of “never judge a book by its cover” because you never know who you’re going to need help from in your hour of need.
Shot in black and white and almost completely absent of any dialogue, this short film paints a picture of a lonely and potentially dangerous world as three strangers come together in a brutal act of attempted rape, our ideas of two of the strangers changing by the film’s end.
Directed by Crystal Us and written by and starring Shawna Baca the message of “Impersonal Impression” is presented in a very subtle light, so you don’t feel like you’re being preached to because boy do I hate that. There’s no soapbox here, just a very soothing film despite the subject matter of rape.
