Photographer Leigh Wiener enjoyed a fifty year career as an observer of people from “all walks of life,” and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is hosting a special series of the artists’s film-related work, entitled “Photographing People: Hollywood Moments by Leigh Wiener,” beginning on [ January 19th ] and ending on [ April 8th, 2001 ] . The exhibition will be free and open to the public.
Aside from photographs of every President from Truman to Regan, many of Wiener’s most celebrated images are from landmark moments in Hollywood history: Academy Awards ceremonies, dinners with Robert F. Kennedy and Elizabeth Taylor, and Frank Sinatra’s performances with the “Rat Pack” are a few of the hallowed glimpses of celebrity captured by the photographer’s legendary camera.
