The American Cinematheque presents Los Angeles Premieres of two acclaimed new films. Director David Cronenberg (DEAD RINGERS, CRASH) will appear in person to present the Los Angeles Premiere of his 2005 Cannes Film Festival Palme D’Or Nominated film A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE on Wednesday, September 21st at 7:30 PM. Viggo Mortensen stars in this tale of a small town man whose heroic deed leads to a case of mistaken identity that places he and his family in grave danger. The screening will be followed by a premiere party for all ticket buyers.
On Monday, September 26th at 7:30 PM is the Los Angeles Premiere of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner, FORTY SHADES OF BLUE starring RIP TORN (PAYDAY, THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH) as a womanizing, aging Memphis soul music producer. Rip Torn and director Ira Sachs (THE DELTA) are scheduled to speak following the screening. Memphis is the theme of the after party (open to all ticket buyers), sponsored by The Memphis & Shelby Co. Film and Television Commission, The Tennessee Film, Entertainment and Music Commission & The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau. On Tuesday, September 27th at 7:30 PM, is a screening of a new 35 MM Print (courtesy of the Saul Zaentz Company) of the 1972 film PAYDAY starring Rip Torn who will once again appear in person for discussion following the film.
