What the hell’s this world coming to? Last we reported on Forrest J. Ackerman, we informed you that we heard the Ackermansion, Forry’s 5,800-square-foot mansion housing 300,000 sci-fi and horror related items, was up for sale. We didn’t want to believe it, it was just something we heard.
Now, the Los Angeles Times reports that the Ackermansion is indeed up for sale as is Forry’s movie memorabilia collection, which will be auctioned off on Ebay. All this to help pay the staggering lawyer fees set upon Forry due to the ongoing legal battle with his former Famous Monsters of Filmland publisher, Ray Ferry.
Two years ago, Forrest won a $500,000 settlement and rights to his Dr. Acula pen name, but since then, Uncle Forry has been getting royally f****d due to bankruptcy filed by Ferry as well as an appeal. The legal fees have been mounting and now the Ackermansion is no more.
Right before Halloween, too. It’s a damn shame.
