Screening at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles tonight, May 14, is “HUNGER ARTISTS” – DARK, DEADPAN AND SURREAL SHORTS FROM SLAMDANCE 2004, a program of 9 shorts including the West Coast Premieres of “Fine And Dandy” an homage to European art films of the 1950’s and 60’s; the dramatic narrative “Falls and “Roberta Wells” a portrait of a 77-year old woman struggling with nicotine withdrawal in the middle of a family reunion. This best-of also features the L.A Premiere of the utterly dark comedy Why The Anderson Children Didn’t Come to Dinner, and the special screening of the Spirit of Slamdance Award 2004 Winner “The Virile Man.” Screenings of the animated Live Bait, “The Three Of Us” (featuring a song by Ben Harper) and the abstract “Particle Valentine,” are programmed as well as a screening of the disorienting “Winner.” Several of the filmmakers will be present for post-screening discussion.
