This year, the San Francisco Lesbian and Gay Film Festival played host to a very special presentation of Milford Thomas’s “Claire”, a new silent film made with authentic antique hand-crank cameras, which was accompanied by a live orchestral score composed and conducted by San Francisco Conservatory of Music alum Anne Richardson at the Herbst Theatre. The film was introduced by San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano, who proclaimed June 26, 2002 as Mish P. DeLight Day in San Francisco, in honor of the “Claire” star and charter member of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
“Claire” is about an older gay couple that discovers a mystical moon child in an ear of corn in their barn. Sounds like the cameras weren’t the only things getting a steady supply of crank.
