Cheryl “Rainbeaux” Smith, star of such B-movies as “Caged Heat” and “Revenge of the Pom Pom Girls,” passed away on October 25th following a bout with hepatitis. Cheryl was 47 years old.
Born 1955 in Los Angeles, Cheryl grew up on the Sunset Strip, hanging out at all of the popular music clubs and playing drums for several bands and performers, including Joan Jett. She earned her nickname “Rainbeaux” from those that knew her as a regular at the famous rocker bar The Rainbow Room.
Cheryl’s first movie appearance was in 1971 with her bit part in “Evil Knievel.” But it was only a year later that she would land her first major role in the low-budget horror film “Lemora: A Child’s Tale of the Supernatural.”
Cheryl went on to appear in 30 more films, including “Cheech and Chong’s Up in Smoke,” “Farewell My Lovely” and “Melvin and Howard.”
A memorial service will take place on November 9th at the Little Chapel of Flowers, Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA.
There is no such movie named “Revenge of the Pom Pom Girls”.
