BYOD: BRING YOUR OWN DOC – EPISODE 65: “EVERYDAY SUNSHINE” WITH FISHBONE AND FILMMAKERS LEV ANDERSON AND CHRIS METZLER

By Ondi Timoner | December 20, 2012

Angelo Moore and John Norwood Fisher of Fishbone join BYOD with filmmakers Lev Anderson and Chris Metzler to talk about “Everyday Sunshine.”

As usual, the band hold nothing back-from growing up back in the day, to police brutality and band friction, they exhibit the brilliant candor that Lev and Chris captured so well in their film.

Watch new episodes of BYOD live each week on Tuesdays at noon on TheLip.TV, or tune in for the archived replay starting here on the following Thursday.

ABOUT BYOD:
BYOD is hosted by Ondi Timoner, director of “DIG!,” “JOIN US” and “WE LIVE IN PUBLIC,” and has the rare distinction of winning the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance twice. Each week the show explores a different documentary filmmaker or aspect of filmmaking, with special guests and a live Q&A– diving deep into creative process and the business realities of producing and distributing films. Ondi shares her insider views, opinions, and personal stories, welcoming audience participation. BYOD aims to entertain, inform, and elevate documentaries in general by bringing attention to films and film makers that deserve exposure.

GUEST BIO:
One of the greatest bands in the history of Los Angeles, Fishbone saw their ascendance during the alternative rock revolution undone by bizarre family circumstances and the clashing of disparate inspirations.

After graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in business and cinema, Chris Metzler’s  film career has taken him from agency work, to coordinating post-production for movies.

Metzler co-directed John Waters’s narrated documentary, Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea,which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and later won both the HBO Producer’s Award and the Robert Altman Award. He is a recipient of the Bay Area Video Coalition’s AEA Award and has previously received funding support from the Pacific Pioneer Fund and the Fleishhacker Fund.

Everyday Sunshine is Lev Anderson’s first feature film after gaining acclaim as a photographer.
