AFI FEST 2010 presented by Audi, running November 4-11, 2010, has announced the films playing as part of the World Cinema, Midnight, Alt/Art, Breakthrough and Shorts sections. From the official press release:
AFI FEST 2010 presented by Audi announced today the films that will screen across its five additional sections, as well as the special presentation panels it will host. The five sections are: World Cinema, which presents new works by renowned filmmakers; Midnight, showcasing midnight screenings of comedy and horror films; Alt/Art, which presents films about art, artists and the artistic struggle for freedom of expression; Breakthrough – a new section to AFI FEST – which highlights films discovered solely through the submission process; and Shorts, with films in this section eligible for Academy Award consideration. The six films selected by AFI FEST Guest Artistic Director David Lynch will be announced shortly.
AFI FEST 2010 presented by Audi will screen 97 films (66 features, 31 shorts) selected from 3,000 submissions across 31 countries, with UK (11), France (9) and South Korea (7) topping the international selections. The breakdown by section is: Gala/Tribute (8), Special Screening (4), Young Americans (6), New Auteurs (8), World Cinema (23), Midnight (3), Alt/Art (3), Breakthrough (5) and Short Film (31).
The films in the Gala/Tribute, Special Screening, Young Americans and New Auteurs sections have been previously announced.
AFI FEST will take place in Hollywood, California at the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the Mann Chinese 6 theatres, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel from November 4-11, 2010.
AFI will continue its groundbreaking offer to festival-goers by providing free tickets to all AFI FEST screenings, including galas. Free tickets will be available to AFI members on October 27 at noon and to the general public on October 28 at noon.
This year festival-goers will also be able to get last-minute tickets at AFI.com/AFIFEST the day before the screening or at the festival box office the day of the screening.
Rush Lines for screenings will begin forming one hour before the scheduled screening start times.
Becoming a patron of the festival and purchasing a Patron Package or one of the other festival passes – including the New Auteurs Pass, the Special Screening Pass and the Gala Pass – secures reserved seats and other festival benefits.
