A DIFFERENT KIND OF CUBISM

Anthology Film Archives and the New Filmmakers Series will present Havana Film Festival in New York at Anthology Film Archives from March 18 through March 26.

Now in its 21st year the Havana Film Festival in New York celebrates 41 years of Cuban Cinema from Cuba’s renowned Film Institute, the ICAIC. Thirteen programs comprised of features, shorts, documentaries and animation showcase the diversity of themes and styles of contemporary Cuban cinema from the 60s through 90s.

In addition to screening over 40 Cuban films, Havana Film Festival in New York has organized a series of lectures led by members of the Cuban film community and daily parties and events kicking off with a gala opening night reception on the evening of Saturday, March 18.

The festival’s Honorary Advisory Board, still in formation, includes Woody Allen, Norman Mailer, Susan Sarandon, Lori Singer, Stewart Stern and Hunter S. Thompson.
