Keysi Estrada’s short film, The Gift, is straightforward and gets right to the point. It’s 1977, and Rodney (Jack McKeever) is planning to lure his girlfriend (Barbara Horvat) over to take some risqué photos with his newly acquired “gift” and Polaroid camera. While waiting for her to arrive, Rodney takes a quick snapshot of himself and, as the photo develops, an ominous image appears behind him, but quickly disappears when the photo is finished.

Running at a brisk 4 minutes, The Gift is a solid horror short. From the opening moments, we are immediately immersed in 1977, and we know exactly what we’re in for once the first creepy vision appears.
Filmmaker Keysi Estrada masterfully creates context from the start and builds to the final scream in The Gift.
