Keenan Gray’s comedy short Seedless is the story of Pete (Pete Zipf), a borderline obnoxious Uber driver in the middle of his late-night shift. Donnie (Joey Leberer) is frantically running down the street to meet his Uber driver, who happens to be Pete. Donnie is headed to New Jersey to find his sister, Jenny (Scarlett Sperduto).

When Pete pulls up to his destination, Donnie begins to pull out a long cord of rope, dons a ski mask, and then pulls out a police scanner. Before Pete can formally freak out, Donnie insists that he put on a ski mask, too, explaining that he’s on a mission to rescue his kidnapped sister.

“…on a mission to rescue his kidnapped sister…”

Seedless is a nice little comedy thriller caper. Pete Zipf is perfect as Pete as the night’s events slowly sour his gregarious attitude. His aggressive and controlling behavior gradually unravels over the course of the film, while Keenan Gray’s direction keeps us grounded through the night’s events. I also have to hand to Gray for shooting most of the film in a car. Having done it once in my life, it’s a major hassle.

Seedless is a fast-paced, midnight joyride of a short film that blends quirky comedy with a tense thriller edge. Keenan Gray cleverly steers us through a wild night of Uber-fueled chaos, anchored by Pete Zipf’s hilariously escalating unraveling. Sometimes, the world surprises us with life-changing experiences.
