It is a known fact, but when Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar came out a decade ago, a pair of humble musicians, Nekro 1990 and Lapin created the film’s official music video…and by an official, I mean only music video. Nekro and Lapin have re-released their video for the film’s tenth anniversary.
“Lapin singing about the film’s theme of love traversing both time and space…”
The video is pretty straightforward and features Lapin singing about the film’s theme of love traversing both time and space as she sits in the center frame, and the camera pulls back on infinite versions of her with a screen of her singing. We then move from screen to screen to screen.
Though tonally, Nekro’s video doesn’t match the cold and darkness of space as in the film, it does present the colors of love and hope and how they connect us when we are apart. If anything, Interstellar (the music video) captures how masterful movies and themes can inspire and inform art.
Interstellar (Official Music Video) can be seen on Nekro 1990 YouTube Channel.
