Guns & Moses comes through as that gritty noir thriller with a decidedly Jewish bent. As Mo, Mark Feuerstein is the compassionate, heartfelt rabbi who risks everything to protect his community and give an antisemitic young man a chance at freedom and a new life.

Director and co-writer Litvak also makes a bold move from conventional Hollywood narratives. Rabbi Mo is a pacifist, but no one remains a pacifist long when you’re being shot at. There comes a point when you have to defend yourself. Of course, Litvak goes down the responsible path, showing Rabbi Mo and family learning gun safety and the proper handling of firearms in tense situations. Speaking of tense situations, there are plenty of them, and we see that wielding a gun is never child’s play.

Rabbi Mo runs through an industrial solar field in a dramatic chase scene.

Mark Feuerstein sprints through a solar power facility in a high-stakes moment from Guns & Moses, capturing the film’s blend of noir tension and action-thriller pacing.

“…a solid crime-noir story and action thriller.”

Veteran actor Feuerstein brings credibility and gravitas to the drama in Guns & Moses. It also helps to have powerhouses like Christopher Lloyd, Dermot Mulroney, and Angel Studios favorite Neal McDonough in the mix.

I’m certainly not an expert on Jewish culture, but films like Guns & Moses open my world to not only cultures different from mine, but particularly to that culture’s views in today’s ever-divided world. If anything, Guns & Moses is a solid crime-noir story and action thriller.

Guns & Moses takes a bold leap into cultural and genre filmmaking. With its intense performances, tense set pieces, and an authentic moral core, Guns & Moses isn’t just about one man taking up arms—it’s about what it takes to stand up for truth when everyone else wants to move on.
