In Nick Russell and Nick Musgrove’s short film Favourites, parents are asked to make some of the most challenging decisions for their children.
In the middle of the Australian Outback, parents Keith (Stephen Curry) and Justine (Sibylla Budd) are seen rushing their children, Patrick (Chris Labbett) and Emily (Imogen Labbett), to the nearest medical care center to be treated for poisonous snake bites.
“…parents…are seen rushing their children…to the nearest medical care center to be treated for poisonous snake bites.”
They arrived just in time to save their children…except that there is only one dose available to save their children. Before they can be asked about who gets the antidote, Keith blurts out his choice. Let’s just say it was the wrong choice.
Running at a brisk five minutes, Favourites gets right down to business, setting up the joke, moving to the punchline, and then the payoff. It works. The punchlines are hilarious. The editing is perfect, and as the father, Stephen Curry’s timing is brilliant. Favourites will be the best five minutes of your life.
