The saying goes, “Time heals all wounds.” But in reality…movie reality…time only intensifies the feelings from the last meeting, which happens in Brandon Regina’s Another Round.
Whether by fate or by design, a chance meeting brings former flames, Tom (Sam Johnson) and Jane (Casey Bradley), together for an advertised heart-warming reunion. As the evening progresses, both harbor secrets that could lead to “the ultimate betrayal.”
There are two intriguing aspects of Another Round worth talking about, and ironically, the “secrets” portion, I can’t talk about it for obvious reasons. Watch it, and then we’ll talk.

So, let’s get into part one. We’ve all been there, right? You run into an ex-whatever after a very long hiatus, and the first memories that come flooding are the good times you had together. Maybe, the flames of romance can be rekindled for just one night, then at the turn of a dime, the sharp pains of the break-up shock your system. Then the issues/events that led to the couple’s break-up come out. But that was a long time ago. We’ve all changed, grown, and matured…right?
With a fifteen minutes runtime, Another Round gets right to the point and wastes no time. Regarding the “tango” between Tom and Jane, Johnson and Bradley adeptly navigate through the emotional twists and turns of the story to carry us along and makes it feel authentic.
Good performances, intriguing subject, and a dark conversation-worthy ending about what could have been and second chances make for a great little short film in the end.
