HOLLYSHORTS FILM FESTIVAL 2025 REVIEW! A Bear In The Woods, written and directed by Andrew Laurich, sees two people camping. Taylor (Mimi Michaels) and Mark (Will Ropp) are getting all lovey inside the tent at night when they are startled by a noise. Determining it is a bear, the two decide to get the bear mace out of their backpack to be on the safe side. But the backpack is outside… where the bear is roaming.
“…getting all lovey inside the tent at night when they are startled by a noise.”
Michaels and Ropp are a lot of fun, especially when the bickering begins. Laurich ensures the nighttime setting feels appropriately dark but is never so much so that it is impossible to see anything. This is very true when the outside world becomes a bigger part of it all.
A Bear In The Woods is a fun time with a sweet message. The bear looks dynamite, and the direction keeps the tension nice and high. Everyone involved shows great promise that should propel them forward in the filmmaking industry with ease.
A Bear In The Woods screened at the 2025 HollyShorts Film Festival.
