As part of its Southwest Tour, the Austin Cinemaker Co-op will make a stop at Houston’s Aurora Picture Show for a screening of Super 8 shorts, featuring selections by such filmmakers as Lee Daniel (“Slacker”, “Dazed and Confused” cinematographer), Shannon Owens, John Bedolla, Aaron Valdez, Andre Silva, and more. These films will range from documentaries to hand painted experimental pieces to animated works, all made by Texas filmmakers.
The screening of Super 8 shorts will take place on Friday, August 23rd with a Super 8 workshop to follow the next day. Taught by Cinemaker staff members, the class will provide beginning and experienced filmmakers alike with tools for creating a Super 8 one-reeler. Participants will be introduced to cameras and camera use, film stocks, processing, editing and splicing, and more.
