The 2024 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) is rolling out the red carpet for a killer lineup of talent this year. Leading the pack of honorees is none other than Nicolas Cage, who’ll be snagging the Icon Award for his role in Longlegs (because no fest is complete without Cage going full Cage). Joining him in the spotlight are Joan Chen, Colman Domingo, Terry Crews, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and a few other heavyweight names.
This year’s honors event happens on October 20 at the Balboa Bay Resort, where Cage will get his dues alongside Chen (Dìdi) with a Career Achievement Award. Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) nabs the Maverick Award (because let’s face it, the guy’s a one-man tour de force). Rounding out the star-studded list are Sheryl Lee Ralph, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, George MacKay, June Squibb, Diane Warren, and Finneas O’Connell, all picking up well-deserved accolades across the festival’s run.
Terry Crews will score the Arts Champion Award during the fest’s Sunset Series on October 21. Meanwhile, Finneas will hang out, talk music, and grab the Outstanding Achievement in Music Award the same day.
With Cage leading the charge, this year’s NBFF looks like a wild ride through some of the film’s boldest and most unique stories. Make sure to snag your tickets for the 25th edition of this fest, running October 17-24. Opening Night flick Old Guy promises to kick things off with a bang, while Closing Night’s A Real Pain will wrap things up in style.
