The American Film Institute’s monthly series of screenings and conversations with acclaimed filmmkers – Cinema’s Legacy: How Great Filmmakers Inspire Great Filmmakers concludes this month on Friday, August 16, with filmmaker Neil LaBute (“In the Company of Men”, Nurse Betty) as he presents Billy Wilder’s “Ace in the Hole”.
Starring Kirk Douglas, “Ace in the Hole” is based on events surrounding the 1925 attempted rescue and death of W. Floyd Collins in a Kentucky coal mine, which was also the subject of a book by Robert Penn Warren.
The program begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
