San Diego was transformed into Middle-earth on Friday as Prime Video set Hall H ablaze with the unveiling of the highly anticipated second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. In front of an electrified audience of 6,500 fans, showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were joined by over a dozen cast members for an insightful and lively panel moderated by Emmy-nominated actress and genre aficionado Yvette Nicole Brown (Avengers: Endgame, Community).
The panel reached its peak when the ensemble cast revealed a brand-new, exclusive trailer for the upcoming season. This action-packed preview highlights the ominous return of the legendary villain Sauron, signaling the resurgence of darkness and chaos in Middle-earth after years of tenuous peace. Fans were ecstatic to catch a glimpse of various fantastical and terrifying creatures set to appear this season, including a young Shelob, an army of Barrow-wights, Hill-troll Damrod, a Sea Worm, and even Ents!
