Dark Sky Films is taking its 50th-anniversary celebration of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to new heights at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Partnering with local BBQ food truck operator UP IN SMOKE BBQ, they’ve created a unique pop-up homage to the film’s iconic “WE SLAUGHTER BARBECUE” roadside store.

The food truck will be set up in the Petco Park Interactive Zone, an area that doesn’t require a Comic-Con badge and is conveniently located across from the San Diego Convention Center. The truck will be available from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28.

The truck offers a themed menu inspired by the film’s characters. Each order comes with a collectible Texas Chain Saw Massacre 50th-anniversary button, available while supplies last. The menu features:

PICK YOUR MEATS
– “Kirk” (brisket)
– “Jerry” (pork)
– “Pam” (chicken)
– “Sally” (Impossible meatballs/vegetarian)

ENTREE OPTIONS
– Slaughterhouse Sammies: Choice of meat on a French roll with homemade coleslaw and seasoned potato chips.
– Slaughterhouse Sliders: Choice of meat on slider rolls with homemade coleslaw and seasoned potato chips.
– Slaughterhouse Salad: Mixed greens topped with a choice of meat and homemade coleslaw, served with seasoned potato chips.
– All Beef “Franklin”: A 1/4 lb all-beef hotdog with seasoned potato chips.

The festivities began with a bang at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, featuring a live ice sculpture unveiling and one of the largest Chain Saw reunions at Texas Frightmare Weekend.

Special appearances and fan panels will continue across the country throughout the summer and fall. In August, a restored version of the film will premiere at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, with members of the original creative team discussing the film’s production and legacy.
