Las Vegas is renowned for being the entertainment capital of the world. Sin City has it all; casinos, landmarks, attractions and The Strip. Unsurprisingly, the location has become extremely popular for other forms of entertainment.
While many will immediately associate the city with films and games, it’s emerged as a prime hotspot for many TV shows over the years. The glitz, glamor and bright neon lights make the location an incredible place to set stories, adding further appeal and often elements of magic that can round off a show in an incredible way.
Still, with there having been many TV shows that have featured Las Vegas as its primary setting, what are some of the best shows to have been made?
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Arguably one of the biggest franchises to have been on TV, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is a show that has had many spin-offs. There can often be debates about which one is the best, with the version set in Las Vegas often generating a lot of discussion in those conversations.
Created by Anthony E. Zuiker, this version of the show ran for 15 years (2000-15) and followed a team of forensic scientists as they worked at the LV Crime Lab to solve difficult cases. It was so successful that a reboot was launched in 2021 based on the same location. Its success perhaps boiled down to the fact that viewers could gain a glimpse of what Sin City was like, and what they could expect if they were to visit the city.
Las Vegas
Famed for its casinos and offering online sites like Razed casino inspiration when it comes to playable games and tournaments, Las Vegas was the home to a show of a series that ran by the city’s name.
Featuring big-time actors Josh Duhamel and James Caan, it ran for five years and was based on a casino establishment called Montecito Resort and Casino. The show followed the venue’s staff and day-to-day operations, dealing with the issues that followed them when trying to successfully manage it. The two actors portrayed characters who worked as part of the surveillance team and were tasked with keeping the casino running smoothly.

Sin City Diaries
Another show that doesn’t make it difficult for viewers to work out where it is set, Sin City Diaries is another that used Las Vegas as its main setting.
The show only had a short run (one season in 2007), but it can be considered one of the best because of its content and story. The show would showcase a mixture of drama and romance, focusing on high-rollers and Las Vegas residents alike who know how to live life high on the hog. Amber Smith plays a character called Amber Smith, who works at the hotel and looks to keep guests as happy as possible.
Las Vegas As A Prime Location
Las Vegas continues to remain a popular destination for TV directors, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if we were to see many more set in Sin City in the future.
The location is a place that many dream of visiting, being categorized as a once-in-a-lifetime place. For others, it’s a destination they visit often because of their love and passion for the area.
TV shows can provide viewers with a way to capture what Vegas is all about, which can be enough to make them a popular watch for some audiences; especially those who love the glitz and glamor the Entertainment Capital of the World has to offer and might not be able to get there too often.
