Best Food Movies to Watch on Netflix

By Film Threat Staff | June 3, 2024

Watching movies about food is definitely a fun and entertaining way to kill time or unwind after a tiring day at work simply because, who doesn’t love food? The love for food is something we all share, even though we have differences in preferences, food is food, and we need it to live. Fortunately, many movie producers understand that producing movies about food can be comforting, at least for most of us.

If you’re looking for the next food movies to watch, we’re not here to disappoint. Netflix has a lot of TV shows/series about food, but for movies, the library can be quite limited. The good thing though is that most of them are quality films. You just need to have stable wireless internet so you can really enjoy these movies. So, without ado, let’s start!

Burnt (2015)

Bradley Cooper stars in this film as Adam Jones, a once-famous chef whose bad temper and bad habits burned his career to the ground. He worked on himself to be clean and sober, and now, he’s back in London with a solid goal – to lead a restaurant and win three Michelin stars. Of course, the Michelin reviewers are hard to please, so he can’t do any wrong. It’s a good story about perseverance and redemption.

Since it’s a relatively old film, you can watch this on Netflix and other streaming services like Hulu, Sling TV, Apple TV, Paramount+, and more.

Hunger (2023)

Hunger is a Thai movie about a street food cook named Aoy who was scouted by a popular restaurant led by Paul, a tough and demanding head chef. Aoy wasn’t convinced to do it at first, but it was too great of an opportunity to be passed, so she gave it a try. However, it wasn’t easy a transition from street food cooking to fine dining. There are some dark scenes throughout the movie, which are mostly about gluttony and the harsh reality of the culinary industry.

Toscana (2022)

If you’re feeling a good rom-com about food, Toscana might be the movie for you. It’s all about Theo, a Danish chef, who inherits a villa in Tuscany. He plans to sell it, but who could resist the charm of Italy? Definitely not him. There, he met a local woman who opened his eyes to a new approach to life and love. Now, he’s inspired to renovate the villa and open a restaurant.

This is a feel-good movie that’ll make you want to fall in love over and over again. But just a piece of advice as mentioned earlier, before streaming, make sure to have a fast and stable internet connection like the one MetroNet offers because you won’t enjoy this film if the screen keeps lagging and buffering.

Uncorked (2020)

Being forced to do something you don’t like is difficult, especially if it’s your family forcing you to do it. This movie is about Elijah, a young man from Memphis who has his own dream: to become a master sommelier. Unfortunately, his family owns a successful barbecue business and has high hopes that he will take over the business. The question is, will he stop pursuing his dreams and follow the path his family wants for him or will he continue his dream to become a great sommelier?

Eat, Pray, Love (2010)

This movie is another classic rom-com and self-discovery film that revolves around food. The best part about this film is it’s based on a true story about a woman named Liz (played by Julia Roberts) who starts a solo adventure going to Italy, India, and Indonesia to learn more about each country’s cuisine and culture. While the romance might be unexpected, it’s a beautiful story about finding happiness and meaning within yourself.

Wrapping Up

There you have it! The best food movies to watch on Netflix right now. We’re a bit disappointed that there are not as much movies compared to food TV series/shows, but we hope to see more food movies on Netflix in the future. Hopefully, they’ll develop new ones and add food movie classics so we can have more options. Hope you like these films!
