Shane Ryan once again proves his versatility. Here he’s directing two music videos for singer/songwriter Emily Wryn, a singer who uses an acoustic guitar to get her point across. I’ll say it here, I think there’s nothing worse than a person who has something to say and is armed with an acoustic guitar. I don’t know why, but singers who use acoustic guitars annoy me, but I can be objective.
“Numb” is a six minute live performance that Ryan molded into an
almost surreal music video. His editing and direction fits the song fairly well.
“Hallucinations Madness of the Bottle” is both a standard video and
live performance, and it has Ryan’s name all over it. It’s stylish and showcases both artists’ talents without one overshadowing the other. His vision suits the music and lyrics far better than most big budget videos.
If you like acoustic guitars and singing, you really can’t go wrong
here. If, on the other hand, that sort of thing drives you out of your skin, you need to find something else to occupy your time.
